A number of off shore features can be seen for example the low structure on the horizon is the production platform of the Douglas and Hamilton oil and gas field. It is located about 11 miles to the off shore and the gas flare can often be seen. Closer in are the wind turbines of the Rhyl Flats and North Hoyle wind farms which combined are among of the most extensive in the UK.
On clear days and from the vantage point of the higher ground of Colwyn Bay it is possible to detect a number of distant features including to the North the Lake District Mountains and on very clear days the hills of Southern Scotland. The Isle of Man can also be seen and Blackpool Tower is also visible in clear conditions including at night.
